In response to the growing concern about the accessibility and effectiveness of online notes, the AO Students’ Conference (AKM) has issued directives urging teachers to strike a balance between online resources and classroom teaching to ensure a more engaging and effective learning environment.
In a press release, the AKM has expressed regret over the continued practice of providing and relying solely on online materials by many teachers from different schools, despite government directives. In support of the notification given by the Directorate and the complaints raised by parents, the AKM appeals for an immediate halt to this practice.
“We recognize the critical role teachers play in facilitating learning and helping students grow academically. However, it is essential to move away from heavy reliance on online notes and embrace more interactive teaching methods,” stated the Press Release.
With the implementation of the updated curriculum provided by the National Education Policy (NEP), the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has reduced the syllabus to some extent in all subjects and grades. This move is aimed at easing the burden on teachers while allowing them to focus on core concepts and learning outcomes.
The AKM encourages teachers to adapt their teaching approach, incorporating class interactions and discussions, to create an engaging learning environment. Rather than providing complete chapter notes online, teachers are urged to emphasize critical thinking skills and teach students how to verify the reliability of online sources.
“An ideal learning environment involves a healthy mix of traditional classroom teaching and the judicious use of online resources. We believe this will not only enhance the learning experience but also address the grievances faced by students,” stated the Press release.
The AKM hopes that the concerned authorities will take note of their appeal and work towards ensuring a balanced approach to education that benefits both teachers and students alike. By fostering critical thinking and embracing interactive teaching, the education system can adapt to the evolving landscape while providing quality education for the nation’s future generation.
