AKMWP, AYO condemn vandalism of ANTA HQ at Kohima

Kohima: AYO says it will not remain mute spectator to any individual or group that disturbs or intent to harbour anti-social elements in society

The Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayats (AKMWP) and the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) condemned the act of vandalism of the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Head Office at Kohima in separate press releases.

AKMWP stated that all right-thinking citizens ought to condemn the serious crime that took place on 17 June 2023 where an ANTA official was held at gun point and supported the taxi union’s call for “One Tax, One Government”.

It further demanded a thorough probe into the incident and to bring the culprits to book at the earliest with befitting punishment as per law of the land.

Meanwhile, AYO stated that some elements in our society continue to defy and intentionally go against the common wishes of the general public to live in peace and harmony with each other.

“The AYO will no longer remain a mute spectator to any individual or group that disturbs or intent to harbour anti-social elements in the society,” it said in its press statement.

The organisation claimed that majority of the factions have become “national liabilities and merely reduced to the category of extortionists and tax collectors with no objectives or principles in contrast to the foundation laid by our past leaders in the national movement.”

It said that while the Naga political aspiration and struggle is dear to every Naga, AYO, under no circumstances, will allow such elements to threaten and sabotage the well-being of the society and its citizens.

AYO too extended its support to ANTA and urged law enforcing agencies to render all efforts and means to apprehend the culprits and punish them accordingly.
