Mhomo T. Kikon, assistant professor, in his address presented an overview of Naga culture, its history and the post-colonial Naga society. He shared his concerns for the prevailing ignorance of Naga culture in today’s generation. If Nagas can imbibe in them the cultural values of the past, such as honesty, hard work and integrity among many others, most of the problems we face today can be eradicated.

In conclusion, he called upon all ‘to internalise cultural values so that we find meaning even in this fast changing modern society’.

Speaking on the topic ‘My Identity’, Hinokali Zhimo shared her concern for the decline of cultural consciousness today and the future of Naga culture.

Students from Yimkhuing community performed a folk fusion number, ‘Akhe Mukheahrüpo’ followed by a display of traditional attires. Thirteen tribes in their colourful ethnic attires showcased a marvelous glimpse of their traditional motifs and design patterns.

Students from Yimkhiung, Lotha, Rengma, Chakhesang, Sema, Zeliang, Nepali, Konyak, Angami, Pochury, Khiamniungan, Ao and Sangtam tribes exhibited their dresses and apparels and provided informative descriptions on them.
