Aliba Village is set to host the highly anticipated Cucumber Festival on 10th May 2024. This will be the third edition of the festival since inaugurating in the year 2022.
Aliba village is located in Ongpangkong circle of Mokokchung district in Nagaland. It is situated 13km away from sub-district headquarter Ongpangkong (tehsildar office) and 15km away from Mokokchung Town.
Suyimkumba Jamir, a member of the organizing committee, informed that preparations are underway for this year’s festival, which will see a departure from the tradition of two days by bringing down the festivities into a single day. Explaining the change, Jamir cited the quick sale of cucumbers and harsh weather conditions affecting the crops each year.
Jamir highlighted an innovative approach to cucumber harvesting for this year’s festival, with the distribution of vegetable scissors by the organising committee to preserve the adjacent stem, ensuring the cucumbers remain fresh and juicy for customers to enjoy.

Additionally, the festival will host competition events powered by Hills Agro Agency, including GO-KARTING (1 RACE), BAMBOO POLE (2 ATTEMPTS PER PERSON), CATAPULT SHOOTING (5 PELLETS PER PERSON), and BAMBOO STILT RACE (3 RACES). Entry fees will apply, and winners will receive exciting prizes.
Jamir noted that further details of the event are yet to be finalized, pending further discussions by the organizing committee.
