All 41 workers rescued from Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel

All the 41 workers who had been trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand was been successfully rescued after 17 days by the commendation joint team who had been relentlessly working in many fronts to evacuate the labourers.

The news has brought joy and relieve to millions from around the who had been concerned and praying for the success of the whole operation.

As the workers came out, they were welcomed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation and other officials. Later Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the rescued men over the phone.

PM Modi, in a post on X, commended the courage and patience of the workers as well as thieir families. He also lauded the bravery and determination of the people involved in the rescue operation. “Everyone involved in this mission has set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork”, PM said.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her relieve and happiness that the 41 men have been rescued in Uttarakhand. “Their travails over 17 days, as the rescue effort met with obstacles, have been a testament of human endurance”, she said on X, adding, “The nation salutes their resilience and remains grateful to them for building critical infrastructure, even at great personal risk, far away from their homes.”

President Murmu also congratulated “the teams and all experts who have acted with incredible grit and determination to perform one of the most difficult rescue missions in history.”

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari too said, “I am completely relieved and happy as 41 trapped laborers in the Silkyara Tunnel Collapse have been successfully rescued.” He said that the operation was a well-coordinated effort by multiple agencies, marking one of the most significant rescue operations in recent years. Various departments and agencies complemented each other despite facing numerous challenges, he said, adding that tireless and sincere efforts by everyone, coupled with prayers from all, have made this operation possible.

Gadkari conveyed his gratitude to each agency and individual involved in this rescue operation and also the international rescue experts, administrative officers, and the Uttarakhand government for their swift and effective response.
