Manipur Chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday called for an all-political party meeting to collectively deliberate on the present situation in the state. The meeting was attended by representatives of various political parties including Indian National Congress, CPI, JD(U), NPF, Shiv Sena, AITC, BSP, AAP, MPP, AIFB, MNDF, ABHKP and key stakeholders including former CM O Ibobi Singh.
CM Biren Singh later informed on Twitter that during the meeting, ‘it was resolved to appeal for peace in the state, and encourage all citizens to avoid any actions that could lead to further violence or instability.’ He also mentioned that at the meeting, it was resolved ‘to form a peace committee in every assembly constituency to ensure that peace initiatives are implemented at the grassroots level.’
Former Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, speaking to reporters thereafter, said that during the all-political party meeting he suggested that firstly, the turmoil situation in the State needs to be controlled.
For the time being we need to keep at bay how it has triggered, who were responsible, said Singh.
He asserted that it is time to work together to bring peace, cutting across all political differences.
Ibobi Singh added that the stranded people taking shelter in different makeshift camps also need to be reunited with their family members.
The All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) also called on N Biren Singh on Saturday and assured to extend their full support in bringing peace in Manipur.
