The Ao Lanur Telongjem(ALT) has condemned the criminal intrusion by armed cadres of the

NSCN-K (Khango/Vusshe) into the private residence on the midnight of December 15 at

Aoyimkum village, Dimapur.

The ALT said that the armed cadres fired some rounds inside the residential premises injuring a victim and even abducted five persons at gunpoint.

“The ALT fails to comprehend how the lawless cadres could blatantly enter into the juristiction of a government recognized village, terrorise the occupants among whom there were elderly parents, wife and children,” a press release issued by ALT convener, Imnaonen Pongen and co-convener, Tia Longchar said adding, “No explanation can justify such an action and therefore, must be condemed by one and all.”

It expressed concerned that when people are happily and prayerfully preparing for Christmas and the New Year, such anti-social elements, under the guise of national workers, roam free intimidating the innocent public.

The ALT said an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty has been sown because of such criminal activities are repeatedly committed as there is no conviction in the judiciary nor are they booked under National Security Act(NSA) for reasons best known to people in positions of power and added that the citizens of Nagaland do not deserve such an unwanted environment during the season of peace and harmony.

It also highlighted an incident that took place an year ago where a bonafide member and entreprenurer of Ao Lanur Telongjem from Chumokedima, Aolemba Longkumer, was also served demand slip by the same Naga Political Group (NPG).

“Since then members of the community have been systematically targetted. This raises serious uncomfortable questions that have to be answered by the particular NPG and by the law enforcing agencies whether any of the cases have reached its logical conclusion,” it said and cautioned that the ALT would be left with no option but would mobilize community opinion and charter the next course of alternative action plan.

The ALT further said that the Chairman of Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) and also Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) has lost his credibility by not taking any action against NPGs that have been blatantly breaking down the ceasefire ground rules, and demanded that he should resign on moral grounds.

It further demanded the Dimapur Police to urgently expedite the matter and investigate the matter and arrest the criminals without any further delay.

It also extended support to DAYO in the endeavour to bring the criminals under the rule of law so that justice is delivered and appeal to fellow Naga youth apex organisations and CSOs of Nagaland to not only condemn but also frame collective decision to start a non co-operation against such NPGs.
