The ANATG 2015 batch teachers have been on hunger strike since Friday.

The impasse between the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers Group 2015 batch and the state government continues as the agitating teachers stand firm on its demand of service regularisation, rejecting the state government’s offer to constitute a High Powered Committee (HPC) within a span of one month. The Ad hoc teachers’ indefinite hunger strike entered its third day today.

The proposal to set up an HPC was agreed at a marathon meeting held between the government and ANATG officials. However, the general members did not concede to the decision. Subsequently, a general meeting was held on 1 October wherein it was decided that a representation will be submitted to the Chief Minister denouncing the decision.

ANATG former spokesperson Bendang Ozukum informed that the representation to the Chief Minister is likely to be submitted on Monday.

Ozukum also said the teachers have been asked to vacate the protest venue as it has been booked for some event prior before their agitation. The teachers are trying to reach out to the particular organisation to request them to consider their situation on humanitarian ground.

Today being a Sunday, the teachers held a fellowship at the protest site and a freewill offering was collected during the fellowship which will be donated to an orphanage, said Ozukum.

Four participants of the hunger strike who were admitted in the hospital has reportedly been discharged and are now in a stable condition.
