The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has urged the Department of Higher and Technical Education to fill the vacant posts of principals in Dimapur Government College, Zunheboto Government College and Wangkhao Government College without further delay.
In a representation to the Department’s Commissioner & Secretary, the Union expressed disappointment at the Department’s “continued inaction” despite repeated appeals. It stated that the absence of principals in these colleges have severely impacted academic and administrative functioning.
“This void is especially concerning as these colleges prepare for NAAC Assessment and Accreditation and work towards implementing the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The transition to postgraduate programs demands academically qualified and experienced leadership, which cannot be compromised”, it added.
The ANCSU has demanded “the immediate removal of the retired Principal and Professor currently managing college affairs”.
Failure to act within seven days from the date of this letter will compel the Union to initiate democratic protests to safeguard students’ academic interests and faculty, it added.
