The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has urged the State Government to implement the Scholarship Nodal Cell to ensure transparency and proper disbursement of scholarship schemes in the state. It reminded that a Cell was set up in the paper four year ago but is yet to be implemented in action and pressed on the government to set up proper cell with concerned officers and staffs.
In a representation to the Chief Secretary Government of Nagaland, the student body also emphasized the need for “certain educational regulation/authority” for coaching institutions in the state. While commending such centres for contributing to the academic growth in the state, the ANCSU stated the need for “the establishment of such institute are registered and monitored for safe functioning of these institutes”.
Further, the Union acknowledged the state government and department concerned for providing five college buses to Sao Chang College Tuensang, New Model College Mangkolemba, Zunheboto Govt. College, New Model College Wakching and Peren Govt. College, and stated that these initiatives have reassured students that the government is concerned for their wellbeing.
However, the ANCSU pointed out that there are other government colleges particularly Dimapur Govt. College that is facing transportation issues for its students that consists of boys and girls from not just Dimapur district but also from Chümoukedima and Niuland districts.
“At present, the college has two buses (32-25 seats) however again one is inoperable condition,” it said, while requesting for prompt resolution to the problem.
