The Angami Students’ Union Shillong (ASUS) celebrated its 56th Freshers’ Day Meet at Naga Community Hall, Nongrim Hill, Shillong on September 14.
The event was graced by Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, President of the Kohima District Football Association and Vice president Kohima Village Youth Organization, as the Chief Guest, informed a press release by the ASUS.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Ruokuohuzo Khezhie, President of ASUS, while the comperes for the program Mhaleneinuo Solo and Thinosalie Keyho, skillfully guided the audience through the event with their charm and wit.
Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, in his address, encoruaged the audience with his life story, sharing tales of fun and challenging experiences that shaped him into the dynamic leader he is today. With his infectious enthusiasm and charismatic presence, he motivated the students to strive for excellence and bring laurels to the Naga society, stated the press release. Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome emphasized the importance of leading a disciplined life, cautioning against the pitfalls of alcoholism and tobacco. His words resonated deeply with the freshers and the entire gathering, leaving a lasting impact. He also encouraged the students to be ideal ambassadors of the Angami community and Nagas, emphasizing the significance of maintaining good relationships with the local people.

The highlight of the event was the crowning of Medozhazo Tachü and Vimenuo Sachü as ASUS Mr. and Miss Freshers 2024.
This year the Angami Students’ Union Shillong also, introduced new change for the Freshers’ Meet by holding an online voting process to select Mr. and Miss Popular with the aim of increasing participations and to embrace modern engagement methods. Vimenuo Sachü and Thejavisie Suohumvu were declared Mr and Miss. Popular.
Kethokhrieno Solo delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, guests, participants and the mesmerizing performances by the special guest artistes.
