Animal health takes a team: World Veterinary Day 2025

World Veterinary Day was started by the World Veterinary Association in the year 2000 to celebrate the contribution of Veterinarians to the health and well beings of animals, people and the environment around the world

The importance of a Veterinary Doctor is felt all over the World for the kind of impact they have created for all the animal health care, prevention, various control/eradication programs against infectious diseases, zoonotic diseases, re-emerging diseases, welfare activities and thus making the world a better and safer place for animal and human to co-exist.

Veterinarians also play a vital role in major sector of the society be it in :-

-Food security

-Meat and dairy industry

-Poverty alleviation

-Scientific researches

-Employment generation etc

Keeping in mind the huge diversity of works in different fields of Veterinary practices and the crucial role a Veterinarian has to play, the World Veterinary Association has given the theme for this year day as : “Animal Health takes a team” The theme emphasizes the collaborative nature of Veterinary practice, highlighting the importance of various stakeholder working together to provide quality animal health care , protecting public health and caring for the environment by working together all stakeholder i.e. Veterinarians, Para-Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Researchers and other allied Health professionals for  a better animal health care services.

As we mark the celebration of this World Veterinary Day and also as a responsible citizen it is necessary to highlight some of our basic duties:-

-Motivating young people to take up the noble Veterinarians profession and various related Veterinary industries.

-Improving the living condition of animals that live with us or those homeless/ abandoned ones.

-Creating awareness to the people about various zoonotic diseases and the importance of routine immunization of our animals/pets.

-Preventing animal cruelty.

-Creating awareness to the public to recognize and support the works of a Veterinarian.

May this day be a reminder for all of us to embark upon “Animal Health takes a Team” in order to strive stronger in the field of Veterinary practices and strive towards excellence.
