The All Nagaland Private Schools Association Wokha Unit conducted the Quartet Singing Competition for its member schools in the district on Saturday at Christian Model High School, Wokha.
President, ANPSA Wokha Unit, Edward Ngullie in his welcome address remarked that the competition is a part of nurturing talent while exploring the musical capabilities of the children and also a platform to bring all the members school together in one gathering. He also informed that the winner of this Quartet Singing Competition will be representing Wokha District at State Level which will be held from Kohima on 17th October 2023.

Eleven Schools of Wokha District namely Little Angel School, Christian Model High School, Cistus School, Regimental School, Fernbrook School, Springdale School, Libemo Memorial School, Perennial School, Bethsaida School, Santsüo School and Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School participated in the Competition.
The participants were judged under the following criteria such as Melody, Harmony, Timing, Clarity of Words, Expression and Presentation.
David Ngullie, Proprietor of Bravo School of Music and one of the judges, expressed hope that the competition would be a blessing for everyone present in the hall with the Gospels songs they will be performing.
The panel of judges for the Quartet Singing Competition included David Ngullie, Khyopenthung Tsopoe and Emilo Patton.
The winners of the competition were Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School securing 1st place, Fernbrook School securing 2nd place, Libemo Memorial School securing 3rd place and Christian Model High School securing 4th place.
Isaiah Ability Higher Secondary School will be representing Wokha District in the State Level on 17th October 2023.
During the judges’ remarks, Khyopenthung Tsopoe, Assistant Professor of English Department, Mount Tiyi College while congratulating all the participants, emphasized on some aspects of singing. He emphasized that as musician, timing is one of the most important part of music.
“If one has good timing, then it can be considered that half of the journey of becoming a great musician is achieved” he added.
Tsopoe stated that singers and composers who have good timing always performs better without spending too much time and the end result is always better for those who have good timing. He also pointed out that expression is also one important point in singing especially during live performances, adding that it captivates the audience.
Leaving a message to the upcoming aspiring musicians, Tsoepoe urged them to feel the music, enjoy and have fun while singing in order to express how we feel. He further invited all the participants for free recording at his studio (Dreams Record) as a gift.
Emilo Patton, while congratulating the participants, emphasized on two tips, practice and breathing exercises.
The program was chaired by Rinton Lohe, General Secretary, ANPSA Wokha Unit. Invocation prayer by Rev. Mhonyamo Ngullie, Ex-President, ANPSA. Introduction of Judges was done by Rushamo Tsopoe, Ex-President, ANPSA, while vote of thanks was presented by Mhonroni Murry, Vice-President, ANPSA. Benediction was delivered by Serena Murry, Administrator, CMHS.
Earlier, Christian Model High School Students presented a special number.
