The Aoleng Festival cum 3rd Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2023 is underway at Local Ground, Mon Town in Mon district, the ‘Land of Angh – City of Handicrafts’. The event was inaugurated by B.L. Verma, Union Minister of State, DoNER & Cooperation on Saturday.
In his address as Guest of Honour, the MoS said that he was impressed by the rich culture of the Konyak tribe, one of the largest tribes of Nagaland. The Union minister also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Ministry of DoNER will try to extend maximum possible support for the inclusive development of the remotest place like Mon.
Later, the minister stated in Hindi on Twitter that the cultural program filled with traditional dance and music enthralled all the guests.

People of Mon Town and Mon District warmly welcome the Guest of Honour with their Traditional Attires, DIPR stated.
B.L. Verma was accompanied by K. Konngam, Advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art & Culture, Govt. of Nagaland, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Anuradha S. Chagti, Joint Secretary, N. Simte, Under Secretary, DoNER, Sekhar Dey, APS and Alok Rai, PA to Union Minister.
In his welcome address, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS informed that this 15-day event will conclude on 8 April 2023 and will have various programme and performance from renowned artists, singers, bands and other performers.
Aoleng Festival cum 3rd Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2023 will provide an outstanding platform to talents, artisans, SHGs and other participants form all walk of the life, the DC said.
President of Konyak Union extended gratitude to the Union Minister and entire Team for gracing the occasion. He also thanked the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner, Mon for taking such a wonderful initiative to promote local products, brands along with cultural and traditional development. Further, he assured to extend full support to the organisers and wished for success of the event.
The inaugural programme included cultural performances by Leangha Village Cultural Troupe, Chi Sheko Khong Mon Town, Mon Chamber Choir; traditional Song by Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Bihu dance from Assam, cultural dance by KNSK and patriotic song by Atzing Konyak. Vote of Thanks was conveyed by H. Berimong NCS, SDO (C) HQ.
The special attractions of the Aoleng Festival cum 3rd Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2023 include District Talent Hunt Competition, Miss Mon 2023 Beauty Pageant, Mr & Miss Eastern Nagaland 2023, Mon Icon besides performances and concerts from Abiogenesis Band, Dreamz Unlimited, Sunep Lemtur and Divine Connection.
The event will go on till 8 April 2023.
