Apollo Excelcare to provide free ambulance services for Ao students in Guwahati

Apollo Excelcare Hospital Guwahati will provide free ambulance services for students belonging to the Ao community, residing within a 20-kilometer radius of Guwahati. This is part of the agreement in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Guwahati (AKTG) and the premier hospital on 5th April 2025.

According to an update, the agreement also includes 15 percent discount on all outpatient services and on inpatient services for members of the Ao Naga community in general, which will help alleviate the financial burden of healthcare costs for families. This offer will be available to all the Ao Naga community in general, contingent upon the fulfillment of the hospital’s established policies and in terms and conditions, it added.

The AKTG has also agreed to organise blood donation drives “to ensure the availability and safe storage of blood within the hospital”.

On the significant occasion, Watilong T. Jamir, President of AKTG, expressed sincere gratitude to the Apollo Excelcare Hospital management for responding to the pressing healthcare needs of the Ao community, which has long been in need of such services.

Thaomunglung, the Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Excelcare Hospital, further reiterated the hospital’s commitment to supporting the Ao community, particularly its students, in every possible way. He assured that the hospital’s management team would work closely with AKTG to foster cooperation and unity, with the ultimate aim of improving the health and well-being of the community.

AKTG mentioned that the initiative was originally conceived in 2022 under the visionary leadership of Adv. Noklensangyu Pongen. It stated that over the past few years, Adv. Pongen, Dr. Lipok Jamir, Rev. Dr. Toshirenba Pongen along with AKTG, had worked diligently, deliberating ideas and envisioning a future where the community’s healthcare needs are adequately addressed and that this long-awaited vision became a reality with the signing of the MOU.
