A fire broke out at the residence of John P Bukung Keikung at Leinak Ward, Longleng, around 12:45 p.m. on December 22.

An Assam Rifles officer noticed the fire from the Company Operating Base (COB) and informed the troops. A company of Assam Rifles personnel reached the spot at around 1 p.m., cordoned off the area, evacuated residents from nearby houses, and deployed firefighting equipment to contain the fire.

Fire personnel from Longleng, assisted by local volunteers and Assam Rifles troops, worked jointly to douse the fire, which was brought under control within about two hours. The coordinated effort prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining houses and nearby forested areas.

No casualties or major injuries were reported in the incident. Assam Rifles personnel, along with members of the local community, provided immediate relief to the affected family.
