Of India, State Nodal Agency, North East Electric power corporation Ltd. GOI, the event was held at East Gate Hotel, Kohima under the subtopics ‘LiFE – Lifestyle for the Environment’ and ‘We are pro-planet people’.

In his speech, Dr Temjenwabang focused on the sustainable living and adopting such lifestyles were recognized as pro-planet people. LiFE serves as a battle against climate change, said Dr. Temjenwabang, providing strategies and groundwork for behavioural change toward a sustainable lifestyle with the aim that by 2028, at least 80% of India’s villages and urban local bodies would become environmentally friendly.
Providing basic information on Energy conservation, Dr. Temjenwabang reminded that December 14 has been designated as National Energy Conservation Day in India, further the Energy Conservation Act of 2001 established a framework for regulating energy consumption, promoting energy efficiency, and creating standards for appliances, vehicles, industrial and commercial establishments. He also reminded that India has committed to reducing total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030 and decreasing the economy’s carbon intensity by 45% over 2005 levels and the goal was to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy, meeting 50% of energy requirements by 2030.
Energy conservation can take place in different spheres like domestic, community, industrial, and transportation, stated Dr. Temjenwabang, adding that at the domestic level, simple changes like lowering refrigerator settings, using energy-efficient bulbs, turning off lights upon leaving rooms, adopting energy-efficient appliances, unplugging devices when idle could be adopted, and shifting to renewable energy sources can result in significant energy savings, up to 40%.
Hekuto Wotsa, Director, Wotsa Fine Arts & Training Centre, member of the jury stated that the true value of the arts has often been overlooked over the years, however its significance has been recognized and it is the younger generation and active participants who serve as beacons, guiding the trajectory of the nation. “When we focus on the overarching theme, the participants in the painting competition, particularly the students, serve as a tremendous source of inspiration and with continuous engagement in such activities could propel us to reach the same level as other states and countries in the realm of fine arts,” maintained Wotsa. Using art as a medium to illustrate the importance of energy conservation to the public and the people, according to Wotsa, not only helps embracing the message but also actively showcase the path to public awareness.
