The 23rd edition of the Hornbill Festival is providing platforms for artists, photographers, sculptors where they can exhibit, sale and even compete. The Festival of Festivals was declared open today by Jagdeep Dhankar, Vice-President of India at Naga Heritage Village, Kohima, Nagaland.
The Department of Art & Culture is organising the Artist Corner at the World War II Museum Kisama where a total of 27 participants have put up a total of 50 artworks which includes sculptures, oil paintings, modern arts and pencil sketches on display and for sale.
These artworks are being put up for sale, with prices ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,50,000.
The Department informed that registration for the participants were carried out free of cost to promote the local artistes.
Portrait Enterprise with support from DIPR and Tourism Department is organising the Hornbill International Photo Fest (HIPFEST) under the theme ‘Colours of Nagaland’ also at the WW II area, Kisama.
Chief General Manager, State Bank of India, Vincent Menachery inaugurated HIPFEST in the presence of Commissioner & Secretary IPR Maria Yanthan, IAS, Additional Director IPR Dzüvinuo Theünuo, Joint Director IPR Asangla Imsong and other officials.
The fest features photo exhibitions, an art gallery, coffee house and the sale of photographs and art.
Winners of the fest will be awarded with cash prize of 1st prize – Rs. 25,000, 2nd prize – Rs 20,000, 3rd prize – Rs 15,000, with five consolation prizes of Rs 5000 each.
Photo contest for juniors of Class 10 and below will also be awarded with 1st Prize – Rs 10,000, 2nd – Rs 7,000 and 3rd – Rs 5,000.
The Multi Media Exhibition on celebration of 75 Years of India’s Independence, in commemoration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio at the World War II area on 1 December.
The exhibition is being organized by PIB, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India and will continue from till 10 December 2022.
