Assam reports 70 new dengue cases, total cases rise to 796

Seventy new dengue cases were detected in Assam, taking the tally to 796, according to data issued on Saturday.

Karbi Anglong continued to be the worst- hit as the district reported 55 new cases, said the National Health Mission, Assam.

Eight new cases were reported in Kamrup Metropolitan, while Bongaigaon and Jorhat accounted for two each. Cachar, Dima Hasao and Tinsukia reported one case each.

The state has been witnessing a surge in dengue cases since 1 November.

84 fresh dengue cases were detected in the state on the previous day on Friday, with sixty-five cases recorded Karbi Anglong district, nine dengue cases in Kamrup Metropolitan, seven in Tinsukia and one each in Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Kamrup.

On Thursday, Assam registered 91 fresh dengue cases out of which 65 cases were detected in the worst-hit Karbi Anglong district, followed by 12 in Kamrup Metropolitan.
