Earth Day 2023 was observed at Assam Rifles Public High School, Jalukie, Peren on Saturday with the theme ‘Invest in Our Planet’. As part of the celebration, the Jalukie Battalion, Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) conducted a series of cultural and competitive events at the school with Dr Prabhat Kumar, IFS, District Forest Officer Peren as the chief guest.

The DFO, in his speech, motivated the children to take initiative and bring upon change at their level which can aid in progressive generation leading to larger impact towards environmental security.

The students performed various cultural events including themed skits, group dances and songs themed on preservation of environment and afforestation and how global warming and pollution are affecting the health of this planet under the guidance of Dr Neha Gupta, Principal of ARPHS Jalukie and the staff.

The children also delivered speeches and poems on the theme. Inter House Face Painting and Drawing Competition were also organized where children showcased their raw talents and innovative ideas towards safeguarding and making Mother Earth greener.

Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest to the children adjudged best in all events. The event was concluded with tree plantation drive by children and the teachers.

Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22, is a reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life. First celebrated in 1970, this year marks its 53rd anniversary.
