Operating under the motto “Friends of the North-East,” Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), carried out a benevolent initiative by distributing three plastic water storage tanks to the CSM Orphan Home in Peren and Christian English School in Tesen, both located in the Peren district.
As a part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme, this act aimed to address water scarcity in remote areas. The water tanks were formally handed over to village authorities during a special function, attended by teachers, students, village council presidents, and other stakeholders.
The provision of these water storage tanks is expected to alleviate the challenge of water scarcity throughout the year in the remote village. Moreover, the local community received education on rainwater harvesting techniques and the importance of conserving water sources through forest preservation.

Additionally, the event offered guidance on health and hygiene practices suitable for varying weather conditions. Attendees included 10 teachers, 35 students, and village authorities.
The joint expression of gratitude came from teachers, inmates, village council members, and villagers, all extending their heartfelt appreciation to Assam Rifles for their compassionate efforts in assisting the underprivileged and marginalized in remote areas. Beyond their role in ensuring peace in insurgency-prone northeastern states, Assam Rifles has exhibited a commitment to aiding minority sections and underserved communities in distant parts of the region. This dedication contributes to the overall betterment of society and the welfare of vulnerable populations.
