Assam rifles sentinels North-East football tournament 2024 commences in Dimapur

Assam Rifles Sentinels North East football tournament 2024 began at ARTC&S, Dimapur on 1st July, 2024 with Manish Kumar Major General, gracing the opening ceremony as Chief Guest informed DIPR.

The ceremony began with the marching of teams representing different North Eastern States, followed by oath taking, military band display and traditional dances by local artists showcasing the rich culture heritage of the North-East India.

Addressing the gathering, Manish Kumar, Major General, highlighted that the sports play an important role in fostering unity and discipline among the civilian and troops. He also expressed hope that the Sentinel tournament would serve as a platform for showcasing sports talent and strengthening the bonds between the armed forces and the civilian population

The first match was played between Patkai Warriors (Arunachal Pradesh) and DGAR (Assam Rifles). The tournament will be played over the weeks with the final to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya.
