In a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has expressed its discontent over the “lackadaisical action of the district administration in properly implementing the Inner Line Permit regulations in Kohima”.
The Union informed the DC that constrained to take remedial measures, it exercised a vigil check on 11th September 2024 and detected at least eight illegal immigrants and hundreds with no valid permit.
“In light of the above, the union has reported the matter to the law enforcing agencies and the defaulters are now in the custody of South Police Station, Kohima,” the ASU informed while urging the district administration to effectively implement the ILP regulations.

Public Appeal and Information
The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has issued a notification where it has extended support to the demands of the Naga Students’ Federation for effectively implementing the ILP regulations in the state and implement the same across the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland.
“While acknowledging the cordial co-existence of the various communities in our homeland, it is also imperative to abide by the regulations governing the state for the safety of its people”, the Union stated and appealed all the citizens to extend cooperation and support in the endeavour to protect Naga people from the influx of illegal immigrants.
Further, the ASU has informed concerned house owners, landlords, business establishments, hotels/lodge, guarantors and citizens concerned within the Angami inhabited areas,
1) That no individual without proper Inner Line Permit should be entertained at any cost and
such entries should be immediately reported to the district administration or the office of the
Angami Students’ Union.
2) That any individual executing works apart from the permitted purpose of work/visit and
residing with invalid permit should be immediately reported to the district administration or
the office of the Angami Students’ Union.
