The Dimapur Marathon, organized by Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) as part of the Union’s Autumn Huttle, received a resounding response and success with over 600 runners of ages from 16 to 68 years old participating in the event held on 25th November 2023.
Moatoshi Longkumer, Advisor of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, and Excise, before flagging off the marathon from DDSC, Dimapur, expressed joy over the impressive turnout, noting the event’s scale as a testament to the commitment of Nagas to health and unity. He congratulated ASUD for the successful organization of the marathon.
Imnatemsu, President of ASUD, informed that around 600 runners registered for the 10KM Red Ribbon Run and the 21KM ‘Asemang’ Half Marathon. The 10KM category was held for both male and female while the 21KM marathon was exclusive for male with almost 150 runners, he said.

The President highlighted that the marathon welcomed participants from all communities with a minimum age requirement of 16 years. Revealing that the participants were from over 10 states, Imnatemsu expressed gratitude for the overwhelming national-level participation after the event shifted to online registration.
Dimapur Marathon aimed to promote unity, foster brotherhood, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and raise awareness of HIV AIDS in collaboration with Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACs) in Dimapur, the student union’s President said.
Ao Students’ Union Dimapur conveyed their appreciation to all the participants, Advisor Moatoshi Longkumer, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, all patrons, donors and sponsors and media fraternity for the continuous support.
The primary sponsors for the Dimapur Marathon were the State Bank of India (SBI), Greenply Industries, Dimapur, Skoda Showroom and Service, and Living Water, Dimapur. Additionally, 30-plus local entrepreneurs supported the event.

First: Rinky Kumari Chauhan (Assam); Second: Makak Mayum Minarashi (Assam); Third: Cekrotalü
10KM Red Ribbon Run (Men)
First: M Nokching Chang (Nagaland); Second: A Marik-ho (Manipur); Third: Tsole Yhokha (Nagaland)
The winners of 10KM Red Ribbon Run for male and female walked away with Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Asemang – Dimapur Half-Marathon
First: Daniel Lyngdoh Wahlang (Meghalaya); Second: H Ngaopulou (Manipur); Third: Wede T Mero (Nagaland)
The winners received Rs 1,00,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 20,000 respectively.
Further, the top 15 runners from all categories were awarded certificates.
