ATSUM calls 12 hr bandh in Manipur’s hill districts over RIMS recruitment issues

Imphal: ATSUM alleged that apart from not notifying fresh results, another 15 LDC posts were recruited through backdoor without any advertisement by RIMS

The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has called a 12 hour bandh in hill districts of Manipur on April 24 against violation of memorandum of agreement by RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) authorities in recruitment of Group C and D posts.

Earlier on April 3, ATSUM and RIMS authorities in the presence of Health and Family Welfare minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Tribal Affairs minister Letpao Haokip and Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dinganglung Gangmei inked the memorandum of agreement.

RIMS authorities had agreed to cancel the results of LDC recruitment that was notified without following the prescribed norms and DoPT guidelines.

It had also agreed to declare fresh results within one week with reservation of 34 percent for ST based on DPC already conducted.

Besides, RIMS had also agreed to follow the reservation norms in recruitment of Group C and D posts.

In response, ATSUM had suspended the total shutdown called by them.

Peeved over the violation of the memorandum of agreement, the ATSUM called the 12-hour bandh in hills districts on April 24 from 6am to 6pm.

Speaking to media today, ATSUM information and publicity secretary Khaiminlen Doungel alleged that apart from not notifying fresh results, another 15 LDC posts were recruited through backdoor without any advertisement by RIMS.

He demanded action against the erring officials, materialisation of the memorandum of agreement and nullification of recruitment results conducted without following DoPT guidelines.

He cautioned that ATSUM will be compelled to sustain its agitations if their demands are not fulfilled.
