The Open Auditorium and Basketball cum Badminton Court of Wangkhao Government College, Mon was inaugurated on November 29 at the college campus. Deputy Commissioner, Mon & Chairman of Wangkhao College Advisory Board, Wennyei Konyak graced the occasion as a guest of honour.

Addressing the gathering, Wennyei extended his appreciation to all the DPDB members, faculty members of the college for their cooperation and congratulated them all for the successful completion of these two constructions. He said it’s a great privilege for him to be a part of this duel arena inauguration marking a milestone for the college.

Commenting that the facilities represent opportunities, with a vibrant and holistic environment, the DC said education is not confined to the classroom only and hoped that this facility would create a platform where students can take initiatives and enrich campus life.

While proposing a welcoming address, Dr Tialila, Principal of Wangkhao Government College gave a brief overview of these new facilities. A day to celebrate all the good things and happiness comes through the spirit of community and shared responsibility. This auditorium is a symbol of solidarity, a testament that together we can do so much and bring to fruition, he said.

The auditorium was built through generous crowdfunding with the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner, and the Basketball cum Badminton Court was constructed through the collective effort of the College authority and the teachers, he cited.

The programme was chaired by Rongsennungla pongen, Asst. Professor, Department of Sociology and a dedicatory prayer was done by Rev. Yeangphong Konyak, District Chaplain. The Special Number was presented by Temlei Shonpohru, Asst. Professor, Department of Economics. The programme culminated with a vote of thanks by Dr. Esther P Konyak, Vice Principal.
