Avilie Zuyie clinches two gold at National Armwrestling and PARA Armwrestling Championship 2024

20 years old Avilie Zuyie clinched two gold medals at the National Armwrestling and PARA Armwrestling Championship 2024 held at Nagpur, Maharashtra, from June 6–10, 2024 at Vasntrao Deshpande Sabhgrouh, Civil Line, Nagpur Maharashtra.

The championship was organized by the Maharashtra Armwrestling Association (MAA) under the aegis of the People’s Armwrestling Federation India.

Avilie Zuyie’s achievements at the National Armwrestling Championship 2024 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, have catapulted him into the spotlight as a rising star in the realm of arm wrestling.

Hailing from Rüsoma village, Zuyie is currently pursuing BA (2nd  semester, Sociology department) at Don Bosco College Kohima. He is the son of Beisetsilie Zuyie and Thejasenuo Zuyie.

Representing Nagaland, Zuyie secured two gold medals in the left and right arm categories, solidifying his status as a formidable contender in the under 90kg youth (men) division. Additionally, his performance secured him a commendable second place in the overall youth Champions of Champions category.

Zuyie has been selected to represent India at the World Armwrestling Championships 2024 in Moldova, Europe. Amidst the challenges of limited sponsorship and support from his home state, Zuyie remains grateful for the steadfast encouragement and guidance provided by his parents, as well as the camaraderie of his teammates and the leadership of his team captain, Neli Dominic.

Last year, Avilie Zuyie also won the youth (86 kg right) gold, and left silver at the 3rd National Armwrestling Championship held in Karnataka,Bangalore from May 18 to 21, 2023.

He added that his goal is to become a professional Arm Wrestler and also dream to uplift Armwrestling in Nagaland.
