Awareness programme localisation of SDG goals held in Wokha

An awareness programme on localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) & themes for VDB Secretaries Bodies under RGSA organised by SIRD was held in Wokha on June 7.

The resource persons of the training programme were Suohienuo Keyho, Principal ETC, SIRD and, Dr. C. Nyekha, Senior Lecturer, SIRD.

 

Speaking on the scheme, Principal ETC, SIRD, Suohienuo Keyho stated that India with the second largest population in the world, thus, the state and local  government are crucial for the country to progress. The Department of Rural Development plays a pivotal role in implementing programme and schemes as it emphasis on poverty reduction ,food security health for all, said Keyho. The importance of providing quality education and access to water and sanitation implementation were also highlighted.

There are nine themes under LSDG which have been introduced to the VDB secretaries and are being implemented by the Village Development Board and Communitized bodies under RGSA, informed Keyho.

Senior Lecturer, SIRD ,  Dr. C. Nyekha highlighted on ‘Poverty Free and Livelihood Enhanced Village’,  ‘Healthy Village’, ‘Village with Adequate Water’,‘Village with Independent Infrastructure’, ‘Village with Good Governance’.
