A one-day awareness programme on the functioning of the Nagaland Lokayukta was held in collaboration with District Administration Longleng, at DPDB hall Longleng on May 30, informed a DIPR report.
Speaking at the programme, Lokayukta Nagaland, Banuo Z. Jamir called upon the gathering to always do the right thing. She added that they are the ones who have the authority in whichever assignments they have been entrusted with. Jamir stated that the fight against corruption requires a concerted effort by everyone. She hoped that through the awareness programme, the citizens will be better informed of what each one of them can each contribute towards this fight.
Deputy Commissioner Longleng, Dharam Raj, IAS, in his address acknowledged the Lokayukta and her team for their effort to make people of Nagaland aware about the provisions of the Nagaland Lokayukta Act, 2017; Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2024.

Upa Lokayukta, Mayang Lima, highlighted about the Nagaland Lokayukta Act 2017 while Upa Lokayukta, Khanrinla Koza shared on the salient aspects of the various laws that govern the Nagaland Lokayukta, Structure and Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, Attachment of Property and Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2024.
The programme also witnessed productive open discussion with the participants. SP Nagaland Lokayukta Police, B. Phongtau Phom, delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by the Phom People’s Council, Phomla Hoichem, Phom Students Conference, Wards representative and the representatives from churches within Longleng Town.
