An awareness programme on Oral Health and harmful effects of Tobacco organized by NOHP and DTCC Phek was conducted at DEF Phek HQ on April 30. The awareness event was conducted under the initiative of District Police Chief Dr. Pritpal Kaur Batra, IPS. Altogether 60 personnel (officers&ORs)of the unit took part in the awareness programme followed by free medical examination.
Dr. Kaur, SP Phek briefed the gathering on the causes of Oral Cancer and its impacts and adviced personnel to give up consumption of smoking, alcohol,pan/gutka etc and other Tobacco products.She requested them to advise friends, family members to avert consumption of Tobacco and passive smoking.

Neiweii Losu, Psychologist, DTCC, Phek spoke on the harmful effects of Tobacco in detail, types of Cancer, preventive methods and explained for how Tobacco contains deadly ingredients of 75 chemicals which lead to this dangerous illness.
Dr. Kihito, DH Phek Dentist Surgeon also briefed the gathering on the impact of tobacco consumption and requested the addicts to control and prevent tobacco.
Dr. Kihito also addressed the vote of thanks. Nesulu Tetseo Social worker, DTCC, Phek gave the introductory Speech. All the participants underwent free medical check up conducted by the medical team and were provided free dental hygiene kits.
