An awareness programme on “Workshops on Flagship Schemes” followed by an essay competition was organised today by MY BHARAT (Mera Yuva Bharat), Kiphire, at Saramati View Modern School.

Delivering the keynote address, Thripongchum Sangtam, social worker under Evergreen Society, Kiphire, spoke on the objectives of the workshop, describing them as multifaceted and crucial for strengthening youth engagement with government initiatives.

He said the workshops primarily aim to generate awareness and understanding among young people regarding major flagship government schemes, ensuring they are well-informed about the various programmes designed to benefit both individuals and communities.

Highlighting the role of youth, Sangtam stressed that the workshops seek to enable young people to become informed change agents and facilitators within their communities. By empowering them with knowledge and skills, the programme fosters responsibility and leadership, encouraging active participation in society.

He further noted that the initiative also aims to promote youth participation and access to government benefits through informed engagement, thereby bridging the gap between schemes and the intended beneficiaries. Another key objective, he added, is to strengthen convergence between MY Bharat and line departments implementing flagship schemes, ensuring better coordination and outcomes.

Underscoring the importance of the initiative, Sangtam said that while government programmes are aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of citizens, lack of awareness, misinformation, and limited capacity to access these schemes often results in underutilisation, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. He maintained that youth intervention in such areas would be vital in achieving the national goal of making India a developed country by 2047.

Meanwhile, the Headmaster of Saramati View Modern School, Kiphire, also encouraged the participants to be responsible and active citizens.

The formal programme concluded with an essay competition held under the theme “Flagship Schemes.”
