Expressing its shock over the sexual assault of a minor by ‘Sergent’ Moakaba Aier of NSCN-Khango on 10th August 2024, the Angami Women Organisation (AWO) has said that it is unimaginable that a national worker could perpetrate such heinous crime.

Through its press release, AWO President Neithono R Sothu and General Secretary Shyien Vihienuo conveyed deepest sympathy to the victim and family and prayed for strength and comfort to help them overcome the terrible situation.

The Organisation has demanded that the law enforcing agency award most stern punishment to the culprit without delay.

The AWO has further slammed the Ceasefire Monitoring Cell (CFMC) for remaining silent and “for turning a blind eye to the NSCN (Khongo) group even after the group has time and again blatantly violated the Ceasefire rules”. We urged the CFMC to proof its sincerity and purpose by taking action against the group in accordance to the provisions of the agreement signed for Ceasefire, it stated.
