The All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUMT) has announced that the Urban Electricity Management Board (UEMB) will cease all electricity‑related services—including meter reading, billing, revenue collection, and routine maintenance—in the town’s 18 wards with immediate effect.
The move follows the Nagaland Government’s recent repeal of the Nagaland Communitisation of Electricity Management in Urban Areas (Urban Electricity Management Board) Rules, 2004. Responsibility for every function previously handled by the UEMB will now shift to the Department of Power, Nagaland.

AWUMT has urged residents to direct all future queries, payments, and service requests to the Power Department until further notice.
In a brief statement, the union expressed its “sincere appreciation to the ward yimden and the general public for their longstanding cooperation and support to the UEMB across Mokokchung’s 18 wards.”
