AYO and NSCN (K) Khango settle differences; capital punishment on contractor withdrawn

Kohima: NSCN Khango to reveal identity alias ‘Max Naga’, initiate appropriate disciplinary action against him

Nearly a month since the standoff began between the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) and the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango over the latter issuing a death penalty to a contractor from the Angami community over unpaid taxes, the two parties released a joint statement on Tuesday informing that they had a meeting today afternoon in Kohima. the meeting was said to had been facilitated by the Ceasefire Monitoring Board (CFMB).

In the joint statement, AYO and NSCN (K) Khango informed that the meeting resolved on the following points:

  1. The NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango agreed to unconditionally withdraw the imposition of capital punishment to the proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho with immediate effect.
  2. The NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango agreed to retract its directive given to the Angami contractors to cease activities and demobilize their manpower and machineries currently deployed across other districts of Nagaland with immediate effect.
  3. The NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango shall make it known to the public the identity of the person alias “Max Naga” and shall initiate appropriate disciplinary action against him on or before 15 days. Accordingly, the AYO shall withdraw its Non-Cooperation and recalling back of Angami workers from the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango.
  4. In the meeting, the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango expressed regret of the occurrence of the unfortunate issue.

In the meeting, the AYO also reiterated its stand on the Angami Public Organisation resolution of 1993, on “One Government, One Tax”, the statement added.
