The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) and the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango on Tuesday clarified developments surrounding their past differences and announced reconciliation reached between the two organizations.
AYO President Kesosul Christopher Ltu, along with other office bearers of the AYO and representatives of the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango addressed the media about the development.
Introducing the members present, AYO leaders and NSCN officials outlined the purpose of the meeting, which was to inform the public about the resolution of issues that had earlier led to a period of non cooperation between the two sides.
AYO president recalled that on August 20, 2024, a meeting was convened in Kohima between the AYO and officials of the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango, facilitated by the Ceasefire Monitoring Board (CFMB). The meeting resulted in a four-point joint agreement, which included withdrawal of the imposition of capital punishment on the proprietor of M/s KKB Rülho; retraction of directives restraining Angami contractors from continuing their work and demobilising manpower and machinery; disclosure of the identity of a person known as “Max Naga” and initiation of disciplinary action against him; and expression of regret by the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango over the unfortunate incident.
During the meeting the AYO reiterated its long-standing stand based on the 1993 Angami Public Organisation resolution of “One Government, One Tax”.
According to Ltu , three resolutions of the August 20 agreement were implemented in letter and spirit, which another resolution not fulfilled within the stipulated time, compelling the AYO to re-impose non-cooperation after 15 days.
Following renewed discussions, a five-member delegation from the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango and an eleven-member delegation from the AYO met on December 16, where extensive deliberations were held. The meeting resulted in a Letter of Reconciliation, signed at Hotel Japfü, Kohima.

The reconciliation letter stated that, in the larger interest of Naga unity and harmony, both parties agreed to amicably settle the matter in the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation. The resolution also took into account a letter dated December 15, 2025, from the Commander, Western Command, NSCN/GPRN, responding to point number three of the August 20 agreement.
AYO leaders stated that while reconciliation had been reached, the organisation had appealed to the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango leadership to ensure that the interests and welfare of the Angami people are protected and promoted in the future.
Viniho Kiho, Kilo Kilonsër, NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango, acknowledged that misunderstandings and communication gaps had delayed the implementation of point three of the agreement. He expressed regret that the commitment could not be honoured earlier due to technical and procedural differences between the military and civil-political wings of the organisation.
Kiho confirmed that disciplinary action had now been taken against the individual concerned, and that the identity of the person had been disclosed as demanded by the AYO. He stated that with the reconciliation reached, there are no longer any disputes between the Angami Youth Organisation and the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango, and both sides have agreed to move forward together in unity.
Both organizations expressed hope that the reconciliation would contribute to peace, cooperation and unity among the Naga people.
