Government Middle School (GMS), Bayavü, Kohima in collaboration with AYUSH Health and Wellness Centre, Bayavü organised a medical camp in the school campus on Friday with the view to keep the students and staff healthy and sensitized on healthy living.
In a press release, the school authority informed that on the occasion, Dr Noksangrenla Jamir, Medical Officer, AYUSH delivered a talk to the school children about diarrhoea and its prevention and other health and hygiene practices.
The officer also conducted a special session for the adolescent girl students as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme, sensitizing about menstruation cycle, menstrual myth, common symptoms during period, how to maintain hygiene and food to eat during menstruation.
Following these sessions, students, teachers and mid-day meal cooks received health check-ups. The school authority also informed that free medicines, ORS sachets and vitamins were distributed during the medical camp.
Meanwhile, around 60 students were also immunised on the occasion.
Kikruneinuo Liezietsu, Head Teacher, GMS Bayavü in the release acknowledged Dr Noksangrenla Jamir and staff of AYUSH Health and Wellness Centre, Bayavü for coming forward in rendering their services and support towards the school while exuding hope that this collaboration and partnership will promote a healthy living in school and the society.
