Bailey Bridge over Zingki River will be a catalyst in enhancing the quality of life of the people: CM Rio

Kiphire: Any department who fulfils the project allocated sincerely will be further rewarded by the Centre, CM said

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated Bailey Bridge over Zingki River at Tütheze Village in Kiphire district on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rio recollected his visit to the place in 2008 and realising the need for building a proper bridge in place of the old hanging bridge. He expressed his joy for the people of the region and congratulated the Department Of Under Developed Agency (DUDA) for successfully completing the project.

This bridge will usher in a new era of progress and development for the people in the region, he said, adding that the bridge will benefit the people of Longmatra area, Pungro and Kiphire district in general.

Rio mentioned that the districts in Eastern Nagaland were lacking in development, education and health and that the per capita income was also lesser compared to other parts of the State and appealed to the people to work hand-in-hand for the better development.

He said that in the Union Home Minister Amit Shah had stressed on bringing growth and progress in the region. Further, the CM said that the Department of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has allocated Rs 180 crore for DUDA and urged the department to utilise the funds wisely.

Rio further added about Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) are being monitored strictly and urged the departments to be sincere in the implementation of their projects and to dedicate their responsibility to the people accordingly.

Any department who fulfils the project allocated sincerely will be further rewarded by the Centre, he said, for development will come as it is the duty of the government, he added.

While expressing his appreciation to the Yimkhuing and Tikhir tribes for leaving their differences behind and uniting for better days, he implored all to continue to support peace at all costs.

United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC), Longmatra Area GB’s Association and Longmatra Area Students Union and other civil organisations attended the function and expressed their appreciation to the CM.

A dedicatory prayer for Bailey Bridge was pronounced from L. Alison Sangtam, Associate Pastor and president, Baptist Pastors Fellowship Kiphire Town.

Chief Minister is on a two-day tour of Kiphire district.
