In Mokokchung, an unprecedented number of enthusiastic young boxers have flocked to the Multipurpose Sports Complex for a ten-day free intensive boxing coaching camp. The camp, designed for children aged 5 to 16 years, is being organized by the Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) under the theme ‘the future of boxing is in the small gloves,’ and is affiliated with the Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association (NABA).
A staggering 103 participants, comprising 75 boys and 28 girls, have already registered for the camp, showcasing the sport’s burgeoning popularity among the youth in the region. Due to the overwhelming response, the BAM has extended the registration period until July 20 to accommodate additional aspiring boxers.
Expressing their gratitude to parents and schools for encouraging children to participate, Bendangtemsu Ozukum, the BAM General Secretary, was amazed by the turnout, stating that it far exceeded their expectations.
