Middle PWD colony celebrated its Silver Jubilee with the theme ‘Remembering the Pioneers’ on 29 October with Er K Theünuo, CEO of Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) as the guest of honour.
In his address on the occasion, Er K Theünuo, who is also a resident of the colony, urged the people to be citizens with vision as Proverbs 29:18 says: “Where there is no vision, the people perish”. He said that the pioneers who founded the colony had visions and lauded them for it.
Er Theünuo also added that the milestone would not have been possible without God’s blessings. Speaking at the Old Transport Commissioner (T C) Garage, MPWD, Theünuo said along with vision, we need unity, understanding and cooperation to accomplish greater things.
The guest of honour also exhorted the youth to develop dignity of labour and find ways to employ oneself instead of waiting for the government or NGOs for help. He said that none can solve the unemployment problem except the educated unemployed.
Er K Theünuo had earlier inaugurated the waiting shed and also released the Jubilee Souvenir book.

Tosozhol Natso, chairman of MPWD, enlightened the gathered with a brief history of the colony. He said Lt Neisielie Belho from Kohima village was the first Gaon bura (Elder man) who was appointed on 15 June 1998.
Over time, the colony has experienced drastic changes in areas of development, existence and social-economic perspective, Natso said and added that the colony has been exemplary when it comes to a calm harmonious environment.
He said the community members of MPWD have come together to live in unity and as one, regardless of caste, race, creed or tribe.

The programme was chaired by Sarah Konyak and the welcome address delivered by Er James Khala, Convener Jubilee Planning Committee. The vote of thanks was proposed by Kewepe Kapfo, Co-Convener Finance Committee.
