Church Street, the prime hotspot of Bengaluru, experienced something wonderful last evening – it was not only the first ever Street Piano event in South India but definitely something more! Surely, one would think that this city has seen it all in terms of street and music shows. But the street piano event of Brillante Piano Festival at 1Sobha gave takeaways for the crowd that is more than music.  It was the experience of creative expression manifested by the community for the community. Performers came from all diverse backgrounds and ages, genre and expressive mediums to show unity, artistry, diversity and love.

The heart of the Brillante Piano Festival is to be an agent of social development through creative engagements. The Street Piano events are a feature of what the festival does as community activation and upliftment. True to the intent of the organizers, the street piano event gave us all something to talk about…. The power of music and art as expressions of culture – modern or traditional, the gift of music to bring joy and unity and the bridging of communities from diverse backgrounds. It was a representation of the nation – as performers gathered from all over to lend their support to the festival but more than that – to share their art forms with the community.
