The monthly SDPDB meeting of Bhandari sub-division was held at the Conference Hall of the Summer House-Cum-Guest House at Bhandari on April 10.
Setting the tone for the meeting, Extra Additional Commissioner and Secretary SDPDB Bhandari, Kilangtemsu NCS, reviewed last meeting’s minutes.
MLA and Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon, welcomed officers newly posted to Bhandari, as members to the house.
In the meeting he emphasised on the proactive role of the government pertaining to the Nagaland Foothill Road Construction, its progress and expected timeline for completion.
Kikon also highlighted on some road specifics and projected amount that may be required for the remaining Construction work of the Foothill Road along the proposed stretch covering about 105 Kms under Bhandari sub-division. He also called on the land owners, public leaders and tribal leaders to contribute their part in constructing good infrastructure roads that will be fit to declare a National Highway and achieve an unhindered work process which will be beneficial for all.
In the meeting department of Power, Electrical Division, Wokha sensitized the members on phase wise installation of smart prepaid metering under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
Er. Vungthungo. L. Murry SDO Electrical, Sanis, urged the village chairmen and Gaonburas from Baghty, Merapani and Bhandari areas as well as councillors from the town, to further help educate the general public power consumers to shift from the conventional metering system to the prepaid smart metering system.
Vungthungo also spoke on the benefit of Smart metering for consumers and highlighted on money saving, cheaper flat tariffs, hassle-free billing system, energy consumption awareness through the smart meters, recharge facilities at consumer’s convenience and reducing power theft, etc.

He also mentioned that first phase installation of the prepaid electricity will comprise government offices and quarters, and in second phase business establishments and commercial consumers which will be followed up by the rest within a timeframe.
Executive members of the Lotha Officers Association, Wokha unit led by its president Er S Benrio Kithan also attended the SDPDB meeting and handed over wheel chairs to the Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari as part of the Association’s ‘Reach out’ initiative to extend Community Assistance Service to old and needy citizens. The team also had interactive sessions with Bhandari based officers for better coordination and functioning of the Association.
MLA and Chairman SDPDB, Achumbemo also highlighted the need to post Senior Medical Officer (SMO) at CHC Bhandari at the earliest in place of the officer who has been transferred recently.
