The MGM College, Dimapur, hosted His Grace, Bishop Alexios Mar Eusebius, Metropolitan of the Calcutta Diocese and Manager Bishop of MGM Group of Institutions, for an inspiring program that resonated with purpose and vision, the College informed.
In a powerful address, Bishop Alexios called on students and faculty to pursue education that transcends academic achievement, underscoring the importance of nurturing both intelligence and character. Quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he reminded the audience, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.” He passionately encouraged students to build values alongside knowledge, urging them to think beyond textbooks and contribute meaningfully to society.
Acknowledging the rise of artificial intelligence, Bishop Alexios advised students to embrace AI as a tool to enhance their academic pursuits. He stressed that while technology offers immense potential, true education is rooted in wisdom, ethics, and character.
The event opened with a ceremonial lamp-lighting led by Bishop Alexios, the College Administrator Fr. Giju George and Principal Dr.R.K.Behera. In his welcome, Dr. Behera highlighted MGM College’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.
The invocation prayer was led by Limekali Shohe, Assistant Professor, setting a solemn and hopeful tone. Skillfully moderated by Kulungoi Tetseo, Head of the Department of Economics, the program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Fuchumo Yanthan, Head of the Department of History.
