Minister for Higher & Technical Education, Tribal Affairs and BJP President Temjen Imna Along on Saturday stated that the saffron party cannot be blamed for not bringing a final solution to the Indo Naga political issue.

Speaking to a section of the media on the sideline of a book launch here in Kohima, Minister Temjen Imna Along said it is the endeavour of the Modi led government to give a settlement or solution to the age-old Indo Naga political issue and that the commitment of the GoI towards the Naga people is genuine. He, however, said that should there be some hitches or unsettled matters, the BJP party is not be blamed for it.

Along said that the GoI is putting all efforts for an inclusive solution and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit shah, GoI is ready to give settlement. On this, he questioned, whether the Naga people are completely inclusive to accept it.

He further added that the issue is being politicised.

“You cannot just blame the BJP because settlement is not coming. It is two sides speaking, and in any negotiation all sides have to agree to a certain term to ink a final settlement. This is being politicised, as if the BJP leadership should be the only one to give solution.

If today we say this is the solution, take it, will you be able to say that GoI has given the solution, we will all take it,” stated Along.

He pointed out that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy CM Y Patton, who are in the Core committee, are doing their best to facilitate a solution being brought and was hopeful that the day would arrive very soon.

Temjen Imna Along also refuted the allegations made by the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee President K Therie on post-election merger of the NDPP into the BJP fold. He said that there was “no hidden agenda” of merger between the NDPP and the BJP.

“NDPP and BJP as two political parties of the state have come together with the blessings of central leaders and to continue together as partners again for the years to come is also with the blessings of the central leaders. There is no hidden agenda in it for merger of NDPP and the BJP. CM has already made it clear yesterday,” he stated.

He further asserted that the wisdom of the central leaders is to give good governance and stability to the people of the state and the right way to do it is for the NDPP-BJP alliance to continue to prove it’s worth in vis-à-vis political issues, development and inclusiveness progress of the people of the state.
