The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland staged a peaceful protest outside its state office near Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on April 16, in response to remarks made by senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The protest was followed by a press conference at the BJYM office. Speaking to the media, Manai Konyak, BJP Nagaland general secretary stated that the press conference was convened to address Chowdhury’s comments made in the context of the ongoing National Herald case, where he allegedly accused the Prime Minister of misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

BJP Nagaland co-chief spokesperson Akum Pongen expressed strong condemnation of the Congress leader’s statements, terming them baseless and politically motivated. He asserted that the BJP has no involvement in the National Herald case and that Chowdhury’s remarks were part of a larger conspiracy to malign the Prime Minister’s image.

He Informed that the BJP was holding similar protests across the country and would continue doing so until an official apology is issued by the Congress leader or his party. “We will not remain silent until justice is served,” Pongen added.

Sedevilie, BJYM Nagaland Vice President also addressed the gathering, criticizing Congress workers for their protests against the ED’s actions. He argued that political differences should not lead to irresponsible public statements or attempts to undermine legal institutions.

He urged all political entities to”refrain from politicizing matters under judicial review and to allow law enforcement agencies and the judiciary to function independently. “No one is above the law,” he said, adding that fair trials and legal proceedings must be respected regardless of party affiliations.

Sedevilie further questioned why the Congress party was directing blame at the Prime Minister or the BJP for the legal proceedings, calling it a diversionary tactic. He stated that if any accusations are to be made, they must be backed by credible evidence.

Reiterating their faith in the judicial process, the BJYM leaders emphasized that justice should be allowed to prevail without interference or political sensationalism.
