Body of missing police personnel found in Yungphang village, Tuensang

Following days of search operations, the dead body of Soyimkhumba Ao, a police personnel of Tuensang DEF was found yesterday at a small resting hut in Yungphang village, Tuensang.

Aged around 45 years, Ao hailed from Ungma village under Mokokchung district, and is survived by his wife and a daughter.  According to his wife, Ao had been missing since July 11. Since he did not return home, his wife reported to the police station on July 13.

Following the report, a search team comprising volunteers from Tuensang village and Yungphang village began the search in various areas including forests. Ao’s body was finally recovered in a decomposed state inside a resting hut in the forest.

The decomposed body was found hanging, believed to be a case of suicide. It has also been reported that the body was beyond recognition due to its decaying condition, however it was the  brother -in -law of the deceased who identified him through his clothes.

The police source informed that the dead body was sent for post mortem and results are awaited at the  District hospital Tuensang. After necessary investigation and procedures, the dead body was handed over to the deceased family and reached Ungma village yesterday.

With the case still under investigation, official sources could not divulge more information on the matter.
