The 25 year old student Rendemo Odyuo, who was washed away at Dzüvuru stream in Kohima on June 27 evening, remained untraced even after a massive search and rescue operation being launched which entered its fourth day today.

The search operation which began on June 29 has been called off for today and will resume tomorrow morning.

L Jonjibemo Odyuo, Nodal officer District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) for Wokha and Shamator informed that the search operation which began Saturday was mainly concentrated in Kohima and Pughoboto area while, search parties were also deployed in Wokha district. The search operation in Kohima and Zunheboto will likely be wrapped up today, he said.

Tomorrow’s search operation will be concentrated towards Doyang Dam and the area where the Clean Mission Doyang was held recently.

Odyuo mentioned that the search parties have been deployed in strategic locations in three districts namely Kohima, Zunheboto and Wokha however, due to the high water level and strong water currents the volunteers are unable to dive in the river and more so, it is also not advisable to take the risk.
