A book titled “The Gaon Buras of the Villages and Towns in Nagaland”, written by former Commissioner and Secretary K Nzimongo Ngullie, was released by MLA Dr Sukhato A Sema in Dimapur on 8 September 2023.
According to Akashvani News Kohima, Dr Sema, speaking on the occasion, described GBs as the protectors, interpreters and custodians of the Naga customary laws, practices and traditional values. He mentioned the Gaon Buras have been loyal and supportive to the successive Governments in power, from the inception of the Gaon Buras institution in Naga Hills during the British India Government and till the formation of Nagaland Government.
The MLA also urged all to adhere to the legacy of the former GBs and maintain peace in their respective areas and continue to support and cooperate with the present Government.

The author said that the book “The Gaon Buras of the Villages and Towns in Nagaland” contains collection of notes about GBs gathered from practical experiences and while working with GBs in the administration of the villages. Akashvani Kohima stated Ngullie saying that the book was neither a literature nor history but simple and factual narrative of what the GBs have been doing.
