Boxing Coaching Camp Culminates on a High Note, Promising Bright Future for Mokokchung’s Young Boxers

Mokokchung: 6 promising individuals awarded certificates for outstanding performances during camp

The intensive free boxing coaching camp organized by the Boxing Association Mokokchung (BAM) concluded with great success at the Multipurpose Sports Complex. The ten-day camp, held under the theme ‘The future of Boxing is in the Small Gloves’, saw a remarkable enrolment of 164 aspiring participants. State and national level boxers devoted their time and expertise to coach the enthusiastic children during the camp.

The culmination event was graced by the presence of the Chairperson of Mokokchung Sports Council (MDSC) and Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Poji, who attended as the special guest. Poji, who is also an Honorary Advisor for BAM, commended the association for its selfless dedication to nurturing young talents. He expressed his optimism for the future, stating, “I foresee a great future and light in the future,” and conveyed his heartfelt prayer for the emergence of exceptional boxers from Mokokchung who would shine at the international level.

In his welcome address, BAM President Lanuakum Imsong highlighted the association’s formation in 2016 and its unwavering efforts, with the support of all concerned, to promote boxing in the district. Emphasizing the importance of physical fitness in academic excellence, Imsong encouraged the participants to remain determined, practice diligently, and absorb knowledge from their coaches to achieve their goals.

The vice president of BAM, Tsubusang Pongen, delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful completion of the coaching camp. He particularly acknowledged the support of media houses, especially the print media in Nagaland, for their continuous moral backing and coverage throughout the event.

Deputy Commissioner Thsuvisie Poji presented certificates to the coaches and technical support team as a gesture of recognition for their dedicated efforts. Additionally, six promising individuals (a boy and girl from each of the three age groups) were also awarded certificates for their outstanding performances during the camp.

The culmination program witnessed the presence of officials from the Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association, the Mokokchung District Martial Arts Association, and Mokokchung District Badminton Association, underscoring the importance of solidarity among various sports organizations in the region.

The intensive coaching camp by BAM undoubtedly left a profound impact on the young boxers, setting the stage for a bright and promising future in the world of boxing for Mokokchung’s budding talents.
