Giving a statement to the media before the start of the Budget Session 2024 on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the enduring impact of parliamentary debates and appealed members to contribute positively.

“While constructive criticism is welcome, disruptive behavior will fade into obscurity”, he stated. PM Modi added that “criticism and opposition are essential in a democracy, but it is those “who have enriched the House with constructive ideas that are remembered by a large cross section. No one remembers those who have just created disruption.” He further urged members from the Opposition to prioritize national interests, saying, “Let us strive to deliver our best, enrich the House with our ideas, and infuse the nation with enthusiasm and optimism.”

Reminding that during election time, the full budget is not presented, the Prime Minister informed that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be presenting Budget 2024 on Thursday with some guiding points. As per tradition, the full budget is presented to the people after the formation of the new government.

“The country is constantly moving forward, crossing new heights of progress, all-round development, all-round development, all-inclusive development is taking place,” Modi said.
