The Bumblebee Society, in collaboration with Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi and supported by Anaha Public Charitable Trust hosted a two-day training for parents, teachers, and social workers focused on Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, and Behaviour Management from August 7 to 8 at the Nagaland Olympic Association Cafeteria Kohima.

The workshop was conducted by specialists from the Early Intervention Team of Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi, bringing expert’s knowledge and hands-on strategies to Nagaland. The sessions highlighted how behaviour is often a form of communication and provided practical tools for addressing challenges faced by children with Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. Participants learned to identify sensory sensitivities, implement structured “sensory diets,” and apply Occupational Therapy techniques to improve regulation, learning, and social participation.

The event was attended by parents, educators, and social workers from Phek, Dimapur, and Kohima, creating a diverse and engaged audience committed to improving outcomes for children with disabilities.

In a state where awareness and access to trained professionals are limited, the program offered life-changing insights—helping families and educators recognize that behaviours often misinterpreted as stubbornness may stem from unmet sensory needs. This initiative marks a vital step toward creating inclusive, informed and better-equipped communities for children with disabilities in Nagaland.
